Animated graphics allow us to take viewers where cameras cannot, providing close-up views of microscopic, invisible, or hard-to-capture processes, events, and actions. For example, if you wanted to explain the delicate process of how Lasik eye surgery is performed, a video camera in the operating room would do little more than chronicle the actions of doctors and nurses. However, an animated interactive and/or narrative graphic could provide an accurate and real-time account of what’s going on in the eye.
